Did you grow up going to a church, or do you go to a church, where the Ten Commandments are on a kind of stone tablet up the front? When you became a Christian, was one of the basic practices of discipleship to learn the Ten Commandments?

These things aren’t very common today, and maybe you think that’s a good thing. But there’s no doubting the fact that for most of the last 2000 years and for most Christians, the Ten Commandments have played a fundamental role in what it means for Christians to obey God and to do his will.

We know we’re not under law, we’re under grace. But does that mean that foundational Old Testament teaching like the Ten Commandments don’t matter very much anymore? If they do matter, how do they matter? CCL Director Tony Payne discusses these things with Two Ways Ministries Bible teacher and evangelist Phillip Jensen, drawing on Phillip’s new book on the subject, Written on Our Hearts.
