After spending the summer working with school districts and leadership teams across North America, I walked away with a lot of ideas about how we bring educators together and start the school year well.

Why starting with students and celebrating your own staff's talents can completely change the day's energy.

Why leaders need to be willing to step outside their own comfort zones if they expect their staff to do the same.

Why the best time for an “Opening Day” event might actually be a month AFTER school starts.
That last idea really challenged my thinking. Sometimes people don’t need as much inspiration to start as they do encouragement to keep going.
I also share what these experiences reminded me about being observant, learning from the people around us, and continually looking for better ways to serve our school communities.
