Jane Lipsitz, executive producer, and Trymaine Lee, Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and author, discuss The New Stanford Prison Experiment, the six-part Netflix series in which thirty volunteers enter a prison facility and are randomly assigned as guards or prisoners. They explore the controversial 1971 study that inspired the series, the safeguards behind this new version, and what unfolds when ordinary people are given power over others.

Kate and Trymaine also share a personal connection: both attended the Milton Hershey School. Kate explains why the series reminded her of her own experience there, bringing a personal perspective to questions about authority, conformity, belonging, and individuality.
