In collaboration with our friends at Mostra, I'm honored to welcome France's Aerae and Samurai Music Group founder Presha to the series with a monumental back-to-back set recorded at this year's festival.
Presha's decades-long influence on the scope of modern drum and bass is without measure, having established an entire universe of music through Samurai Music, its several sublabels, and its network of accomplished artists operating in the greater 170 bpm realm. One such talent is of course France's Aerae, whose few yet impeccable releases on imprints such as QEONE, Annulled, and of course Samurai reveal an astute ability to evoke the meditative and transportive nature inherent to modern halftime dance music.
Listening to this set, it's impossible not to imagine the atmosphere within the festival, the slow build of ancestral revelry, the two-hour temporal whirlwind wherein the sinews of contemporary drum and bass are laid bare. Thank you, Geoff and Claire!
