The Orlando Magic are preparing to welcome Sean Sweeney and his blitzing defensive schemes to the team. As they watch the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, everyone will be asking: Can what the Spurs do translate to the Magic?
They are different teams -- a 7-foot-4 center being a big difference. But the Magic have the length and versatility to do much of what the Spurs are doing.
However, the lack of a true rim protector may remain a major sticking point and something the team cannot recover. While Wendell Carter provides good switching and versatility as a center, his lack of rim protection and shot blocking may put a ceiling on the Magic as an elite team in the Playoffs.
