This is a conversation with my young friend Jaxon, who was within weeks of turning 13. It is a snapshot of a thoughtful young person in the twilight moments of childhood and a reminder that the young are fully engaged in their time in history, not haunted about a time gone by, a sentiment that sometimes afflicts those of us who are older. It was recorded on zoom, Jaxon in NSW, Australia, and me in Victoria, Australia, on September 30, 2026.
