The case of Anand Jon Alexander is murky and filled with names, some of which are allegedly guilty of the same things. Alexander is serving 59 years to life for sexually abusing teenage models he lured with promises of modelling and more. Needless to say those promises were never fulfilled.
It's the same story as with others; give a hopeful a taste of that world, and as soon as they are inside, deliver nothing but abuse, misery and worse. His crimes are amongst the worst a person can be accused of, so how could he be eligible for parole as soon as 2027? What levers have been pulled, who pulled them and how did he get away with it for so long.
This is a story of subterfuge, betrayal and consequence. But it's also a critique of the Justice System. If victims can't rely on the State to protect them, and seek and enforce the relevant punishments, can any of us feel safe? 16 Felony counts - including forcible rape and crimes against minors should see him serve his full, 59 years in jail.
But after 17 years, a campaign to release him is gaining traction. Why?
Tara Rule is a survivor and an advocate. She will tell this unsettling story.
