You really did mean it when you made the plan.
You were motivated. The goal felt urgent. You were clear about what you wanted and what you were willing to do to get there.
But the person who makes the plan and the person who has to negotiate with that plan later often have very different priorities.
In this episode, we’re talking about what happens when the version of you who wants the long-term outcome runs into the version of you who wants something else right now—the extra hour of sleep, the thing that’s on sale, the relief, the exception.
I’ll share a real example of how I use DEFENSE with my own financial goals, why “permission logic” can be so convincing even when you know exactly what you want, and why some of our most important work happens before we ever reach the moment where we’re tempted to change the plan.
Your plan isn’t finished when you decide what you’re going to do. You need a defense for the person who’s going to negotiate with it.
Tomorrow night, September 1st, I’m teaching a live two-hour DEFENSE workshop where we’ll work on exactly this: where your gaps open, the permission patterns that make moving the target feel reasonable, how to respond to them, and how to change some of the conditions upstream so those moments happen less often. The workshop is $47 and includes the complete 80+ page DEFENSE Master Playbook. There is no replay.
