In today's episode, Brock Johnson walks through seven trial reel ideas you can use to grow on Instagram. He starts with the basics you need to know before you post a single trial reel: you need at least 1,000 followers to access the feature, the number of trial reels you can post varies by account, and duplicates won't work — each one has to be its own piece of content. From there, Brock gets into the actual ideas, starting with the "if this reel gets me to X followers, I'll do whatever the top comment says" format and its variations, including doing the opposite of the top comment or buying whatever the top comment names.
He also covers reposting your most viral reels with small edits — speeding them up or slowing them down, cropping in or out, mirroring them — along with CapCut memes, "dear algorithm, connect me with" reels, and B-roll or plain text reels featuring quotes, hot takes, one-line surprising tips, or text on a window. He finishes with two formats that lean on audience participation: the "first impression" reel, where you ask people to be honest about what's wrong with your account or guess your follower count without looking, and the "seeing if the algorithm prefers this or that" test.
