From festive mobile dress-ups to profound, emotional storytelling around grief and karma, developers across the industry are elevating Halloween beyond simple jump scares. Host Eammonn Dignam breaks down the spooky season lineup:
Pokémon GO Spooky Showcase: Pikachu wearing a witch hat and cape, top-hat Zubat, and a dapper bow-wearing Sinistea take over wild encounters, field research, and 1-Star Raids.
Halloween: The Game Free Map Drop: IllFonic expands its asymmetrical multiplayer slasher with a free countryside farm map homage inspired by Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, complete with new civilian survivors and movie-accurate Michael Myers cosmetics.
Souls of Bombarica: Developer Streetlamp Games combines environmental possession puzzles with Hindu mythology, casting players as a poltergeist serving Yamadharma Raja to protect innocent humans from malicious entities.
Dancing with Ghosts: Legendary ToeJam & Earl creator Greg Johnson and his wife Sirena channel grief, recovery, and the aftermath of the Maui wildfires into a poignant supernatural narrative blending Buddhist and Muslim traditions of karma, merit, and ancestral connection.
