This week, Saturday Morning Cereal is back for Season 14!
Dan “Grim” Shea and Marke kick off the new season with a trip inside the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, opening September 22, 2026, in Los Angeles.
At San Diego Comic Con 2026, Marke joined an intimate press roundtable with Dr. Ryan Linkof, Senior Curator and Head of Film Programs at the Lucas Museum, for a conversation about George Lucas and Mellody Hobson’s massive new home for the art of visual storytelling.
And no, it’s not just a Star Wars museum.
Ryan takes us inside a collection where Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth, Frank Frazetta, comic books, manga, photography, film, and Star Wars can all live under the same roof. We talk about the line between fine art and popular art, why Ryan believes there’s really nothing left to defend, and his wonderfully simple distinction between art that has a story and art that is actually about stories.
Ryan’s take on fine art versus popular art gets at something bigger. Whether it’s Rembrandt hanging in the Rijksmuseum, a Frazetta painting, a comic book panel, a movie posterå, or Star Wars, the labels we put on art can change over time. What sticks around are the images and the stories they tell.
We also get into the Lucas Archive, the museum’s new film program, Star Wars in Motion, some very large toys from a galaxy far, far away, and what it’s like for a curator to build a museum alongside the creator whose work will actually be inside it.
Then, because this is the Season 14 premiere, Grim and Marke close things out by going back to where all of this started and sharing a favorite Saturday Morning Cereal memory.
