Earlier this year A24 released this 90 minute flick about a paranormal podcaster and her impaired co-host who take a deep dive into some anonymously sent audio files. And yes, of course our protagonist is dealing with some serious emotional issue, in this case being the caretaker of her bed-ridden/terminally ill mother... make sure to show pictures and little figurines of the Virgin Mary because that's thematic and scary doooooooood.
The film promises slow-burn thrills, auditory dread and immersive sound design. Does it deliver? Do the character interactions which are MOST OF THE MOVIE feel natural and unforced and give us a reason to care?
