Sa’id ibn Jubayr رحمه الله was one of the great scholars of the Tabi‘een, renowned for his knowledge of the Qur’an and its interpretation (tafsir).

When he was brought before the powerful Umayyad governor al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf, he stood with no army, no position and no worldly power behind him.

Yet he would not surrender what he believed to be the truth.

This is the story of Sa’id ibn Jubayr, and a reminder that power is not the measure of truth.
