They promised to deport "the worst of the worst." Bless their hearts — turns out that was the hiring pool.
Southern comedian Cliff Cash rode his bike into Chicago — the so-called liberal hellscape, with its museums and Michelin stars and bike paths, God help us — to walk through 23 years of ICE: the 2006 meatpacking raids, the kids who died in Border Patrol custody, family separation, and the 70% of people in ICE detention today who've never been convicted of a thing. Then the names: Marimar Martinez, shot five times and charged for it. Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Narciso Barranco, a Marine dad beaten while trimming hedges, whose first worry was the job he didn't get to finish. Plus the warehouses, the price tags, who's getting paid, and a word for the MAGA folks still calling this Christian. Heavy one, y'all. Stay for the end.
If you or someone you love is struggling, call or text 988 (U.S.) any time.
