Can you be spiritually alive and physically falling apart? Dylan Gemelli spent years at the top of the fitness, nutrition, and biohacking world and says none of it produced real health until God was at the center. In this conversation he and Colby Maier take apart one of the most common assumptions in Christian life, that the body and the soul are separate things.
Dylan Gemelli is a prominent figure in the fitness and biohacking industry, known as the wellness revolutionary, the aging optimizer, and the mind-body connector. His expertise spans fitness, nutrition, cellular health, neuroscience, peptides, hormone optimization, and anti-aging, and his podcast reached number one in Health and Fitness in October 2025.
He also spent years successful, wealthy, and miserable. He describes going to bed every night feeling off and being unable to explain why, surrounded by everything he thought he wanted. What changed was not a protocol, a supplement, or a new training split. It was putting God first, reading the entire New Testament in six months, and walking away from work he now believes was part of the problem.
IN THIS EPISODE:
Dylan explains why he does not believe you can align mind and body without God in the middle. His framework is a tree, with spirituality at the root and mental and physical health as branches that depend on it. He can run every blood panel, prescribe every diet, and teach every trick, and without meaning and purpose underneath it, none of that produces wholeness.
He makes the case for gratitude as the first pillar of physical health, calling it vitamin G, the one you cannot buy or eat. Colby connects that to Paul's instruction in Philippians 4 to be anxious for nothing and to pray with thanksgiving, and to the neuroscience of why gratitude and anxiety struggle to occupy the same space at once.
Together they work through 1 Corinthians 6 and the body as a temple, what it means to have been purchased at a price, and why stewarding the body is an act of worship rather than vanity.
Dylan then walks through the practical pillars. Morning light exposure sits at the very top of his list, followed by daily movement and food quality, and he admits that staying consistent with diet is the single hardest habit for most people to keep. He explains sarcopenia, argues that lean muscle matters more as you age and is even more important for women than men, and recommends breathing or prayer to calm an overactive sympathetic nervous system.
He also gives an honest audit of the trends. Where intermittent fasting genuinely helps and what happens in the autophagy and mitophagy window. Why he believes cold plunges are unnecessary, despite the current enthusiasm for them. What actually breaks a fast. And how senescent cells, oxidative stress, and free radicals relate to the development of disease.
The conversation turns to sleep and rest as more than recovery. The best window runs roughly ten at night to two in the morning, and inconsistency wrecks circadian rhythm along with testosterone, focus, and the ability to build muscle or lose fat. From there Colby traces the Sabbath through Scripture. Genesis 2 and the seventh day, Exodus 20 and the commandment given at Sinai, and Mark 2, where Jesus says the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Rest arrives as a gift to receive rather than a rule to keep, and Dylan admits on air that he is the worst at it.
Near the end, Dylan talks about accountability and the mirror, and why he believes you have to be able to tell yourself the truth out loud before you can be honest with God.
He closes with two words.
