I almost talked myself out of taking my three daughters to the beach by myself.
My mind had already created the entire story before we even left the house: the fighting, the snacks, the sand, the Mom, Mom, Mom, and all the chaos that can come with taking three little girls anywhere—let alone the beach. But underneath all of that mental noise, something in me still said go.
So I listened.
And what followed was one of those days that felt like Spirit was leaving breadcrumbs everywhere. Repeating numbers. Hawks. Feathers. No traffic. A parking spot right next to the beach. Time with a dear friend. My girls laughing and jumping through crystal-clear waves. Everything seemed to be reminding me: You're exactly where you're supposed to be.
And then I got stung by a jellyfish.
Twice.
Because apparently Spirit wasn't interested in subtlety that day.
In this episode, I'm sharing what that experience taught me about surrender, self-trust, sensitivity, and our tendency to let one painful moment become the story we tell about an entire experience. Because surrender doesn't mean life suddenly becomes easy. It doesn't mean nothing hurts, nothing goes wrong, or everything unfolds exactly the way we wanted it to.
Sometimes the fucking jellyfish still stings you.
The deeper work is learning that you don't have to control the current to trust yourself inside of it.
We'll also talk about the difference between your body genuinely saying no and your mind predicting everything that could go wrong, why sensitivity can be a strength rather than something you need to get rid of, and how softness and boundaries can exist at the same time.
And I'll leave you with a simple three-question somatic practice to help you recognize what is actually yours to control, what is yours to do, and what you're ready to release.
Because freedom isn't creating a life where nothing hurts.
Freedom is knowing that when life does sting, you don't have to become the pain.
So maybe the question isn't, How do I control where this current takes me?
Maybe it's, Do I trust myself enough to move with it?
