The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts Session 8 on The Memoirs of Robert & Mabel Williams: African American Freedom, Armed Resistance, & International Solidarity. Moving forward from last week's recap of numerous attempts to kill the Williams' family, we'll pick up with Chapter 47.
Recap of last week and Robert Williams' increased commitment to publicizing their Counter-Violence program:
Hypocrisy of Non-Violence: Williams once again points out that White and non-white people are quick to reject and/or protect White people from counter-violence in response to Racism. But these same White and non-white people are silent about the daily White Terrorism against black people.
'Kidnapping' The Stegalls: Robert Williams is accused of kidnapping a White couple in August of 1961. The Stegalls allege that they accidentally drove to wrong part of town. They demand that Robert F. chauffeur them to safety. When he refuses, they bogart there way into his residence for refuge.
Kickin' It With Castro: The entire Williams family relocates to Cuba after being pursued for specious claims of kidnapping the Stegalls. Once there, Fidel Castro welcomes then warmly and endorses black people of the US battling against Racism. Williams observes that some of the other so called Cubans seem less enthused about countering-racism. He also notes a large number of spies and finks on the island. #COINTELPRO
