Secondhand jeans far more eco-friendly than new pair - research

The environmental cost of a new pair of jeans could be enough to make a shopper blue. Brand new jeans can have an environmental footprint that is 180 times higher than pre-loved ones.That's according to new research from Planetary Accounting Network which uses a sophisticated dashboard to calculate the environmental costs of everyday purchases. Community recycling group Wanaka Wastebusters commissioned the research. Its general manager Gina Gempster spoke to Lisa Owen.
