February 6, 2024. A pastor calls Horry County police and reads them his wife’s location in real time. He isn’t following her, he explains. He’s “watching her on the map.” Over the next ten weeks, Mica Miller contacted police at least fourteen times for help involving her husband, John-Paul Miller, pastor of Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach. Five of those contacts involved tracking devices.
South Carolina already had harassment and stalking laws built for exactly this kind of pattern. Mica used them herself. On March 26, 2024, her restraining order case was dismissed without prejudice. Netflix gave you her life. This series is the paper: police reports, dispatch logs, sworn affidavits, and the federal docket.
In this episode:
The Company Town: Solid Rock, the son who bought the church from his father, the nanny, and the fight over how old she was
The Marriage: the signature tattoo, the postnup, the November 2022 hospitalization, and the two stories about Mica
Fourteen Calls: the February commitment, the car, March 11, the trackers, and the restraining order she filed herself
Six Hundred Days: the official findings on her death, his texts and email, the FBI, and the federal indictment
