If one realized after praying Shaharit that he had not washed Netilat Yadayim in the morning before praying, he does not need to repeat the prayer. He may rely on the opinion among the Poskim that failure to wash in the morning does not invalidate one's prayer after the fact. If, however, one wishes to act stringently and satisfy all opinions, he may repeat the Amida prayer with a stipulation. Before repeating the Amida, he should declare that according to the opinion requiring him to repeat the Amida, his prayer should be counted as his obligatory Shaharit prayer, whereas according to the opinion that his initial Amida was valid, his prayer should be regarded as a volunteer prayer (Tefilat Nedaba). One may pray with this stipulation only if he feels confident in his ability to pray with Kavana (concentration). A voluntary prayer may be recited only if one concentrates on the words, and so if one suspects that he will be unable to concentrate when repeating the Amida, then he should not do so.
