Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.
To refresh our minds and hearts, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings us back to 1 John chapter 1 to expound on who Messiah Yeshua is and what He should be to all of us, namely life, light, and truth. Through this understanding, we should do our utmost to live in the light, having fellowship with Elohim and with each other. This fellowship is achievable only by living in covenant with Elohim, where there is only light and no darkness at all.
In chapter 2 of 1 John, Rabbi Berkson begins by identifying the number one problem, according to him, in the Body of Messiah today.
• How can you know that you know Messiah?
• How is the love of Elohim ‘perfected’ in you?
• What is a ‘stumbling block’? How does it affect your life and walk?
• What is meant by “do not love the World nor that which is in it”?
• Are we in the “Last Hour”?
• What is an ‘anti-messiah’?
• Why did John say, “and you know all…”?
• What happens when someone rejects Torah?
• How do you know that you are “born of Him”?
You can only understand Love and Torah when you understand how light and darkness can influence and work in your life. Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.
