In this sermon for Pentecost 20, Rev. James Douthwaite concludes a series on the kingdom of heaven with the Parable of the Wedding Feast. He emphasizes that the kingdom is not about rules or our own efforts, but is a gift of lavish grace and forgiveness from God. While some reject the invitation, the feast is opened to all—regardless of background—because the King desires to share His joy. The ultimate 'wedding garment' that grants us a seat at this feast is not our own good works, which are but 'filthy rags,' but the righteousness of Christ given to us in Baptism. We are invited to rejoice in the Lord and live in the peace and joy of Christ's life.
