In the earliest centuries, the Greek word for “kind” sounded almost identical to the word for “Christ,” and the people following him were sometimes called the kind ones, because of how they cared for the poor and welcomed orphans. Kindness does the loving thing even when it’s uncomfortable, and it starts with a God who was kind to people long before they’d done anything to deserve it.
