What do you want more, a position of importance or the presence of Jesus? In Mark 9:30-50, Jesus is on His way to the cross while His disciples argue about who among them is the greatest. Instead of scolding their ambition, He redirects it, teaching them that true greatness is found not in rank or recognition but in serving without expectation, staying humble, dealing seriously with sin, and living distinctly in a way that brings peace rather than division. God cares about our circumstances, but He is more concerned with the formation of our souls.
