1088. Creating a Spiritual To-Do List (It Will Never Be Enough)

After the ascension of Jesus, many Jewish believers in Jesus continued to cling to the law ... unaware it was something Jesus brought to an end. In other words, they added Jesus to their law-keeping. Some may have mistakenly thought this would provide them the grace and ability to finally become *doers of the law.*

Today we have much of the corporate church world turning it inside out by first believing in Jesus and then adding religious law to that belief—although usually a version designed to be much less burdensome. It's cheap law—where law and grace get mixed as do faith and works ... incompatible components that do not mesh within a new and better covenant. No matter what kind of a list you want to create to follow and do in order to achieve perfection and right standing with God, it will never be enough ... just ask the Jews from the previous covenant. This is actually good news for us. It's why we have a Savior.

The most effective Guide towards experiencing true liberty isn't from a written code of conduct or any kind of law ... or even 'good Bible teaching.' It will be experienced through the Spirit of God.
