When countries agree to get rid of their nuclear weapons, verification tools can confirm that they actually did it. But how does it work? Arms control expert Mike Edinger talks to host Ryann Blackshere Vargas not only about the details of verification, but also how the work is constantly evolving to address changing global politics.

 

Guest bios:

Mike Edinger is an independent arms control consultant who previously served as a Foreign Affairs Officer at the State Department's Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance. In that role he was the US government lead for the International Partnership for Nuclear Disarmament Verification (IPNDV) from its inception in 2015. Prior to that he served as a Minuteman ICBM Crew Commander in the U.S. Air Force.
