Bolsonaro flees to the US from Brazil

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the right-wing presidential candidate who lost the October 2026 election, fled Brazil and landed in Miami, Florida on October 28, 2026.
This marks the second time a member of the Bolsonaro family has fled to Florida following an election defeat; his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, similarly departed for Florida after losing to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2022. The elder Bolsonaro is currently serving a 27-year prison sentence under house arrest in Brazil for his involvement in a 2022 coup plot.
