Hosts Bobby Johnson and Barrett Hobbs welcome friend and traditional country artist Dillon Carmichael back to the Nashville Palace for a wide-ranging conversation about family, music, the road, and so much more.

Dillon talks about growing up in small-town Kentucky in a family stacked with country music history, from his uncles Eddie Montgomery and John Michael Montgomery, to his mother Becky Montgomery, who recorded her own country album, to his grandfather Harold Montgomery, a rockabilly performer from the 1950s and '60s.

The conversation turns to Dillon's start in music, including his first paid gig at 16 in Nicholasville, Kentucky, and cutting his teeth at the same Lexington honky-tonk where Eddie and John Michael Montgomery once played. He also opens up about the years he spent splitting time between Nashville and Kentucky just to find stages that still wanted traditional country music.

Dillon and the hosts also dig into his history with the Nashville Palace itself, plus a few road stories involving his band and a certain "indestructible" bottle of Crown Royal. He closes out the episode with a live performance of a new song.
