Chapter 5: A beautiful woman, Safie, arrives at the cottage and the cottagers are overjoyed. The monster is able to learn to understand speech by listening to thieir conversation.
Chapter 6: The monster hears the tale of love and betrayal of Felx and his family by the Turkish merchant, father of Safie, whom they help to escape. He learns how good and how bad humans can be and how excluded he is from friend or family.
