Regime Change is the Only Solution | Kobi Michael

Dela

The United States has carried out a ninth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, targeting military command centres, missile and drone launch sites, air defence systems and coastal surveillance facilities as it seeks to prevent Tehran from threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has responded with fresh attacks on U.S. positions in Jordan and Kuwait, while oil prices have climbed above $90 a barrel amid fears of disruption to global energy supplies. The U.S. military has also confirmed the death of another servicemember, bringing the American death toll in the conflict to 17.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain has warned of a possible Iranian attack in central Manama after Bahrain says it intercepted several Iranian missiles and drones targeting the kingdom. Tehran says indirect talks with Washington are continuing through regional mediators, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists the United States remains open to diplomacy if Iran ends its attacks on commercial shipping.

Elsewhere, archaeologists in Jerusalem have uncovered remarkably well-preserved charred wooden beams believed to date to the Babylonian destruction of the First Temple in 586 BCE. The discovery in the City of David comes just days before Tisha B’Av and could allow researchers to date the destruction with unprecedented precision.

Today’s guest is Professor Kobi Michael, Senior Researcher at the Misgav Institute. He explains why Israel and Iran are entering an increasingly fragile phase of the conflict, and why the current controlled escalation could quickly spiral into a much wider regional war.
