Welcome back to the Judah & Spiers Wolves Poddy subscriber special — and for the first time this summer, we’re talking football actually played on English soil.

Wolves kicked off their pre‑season with a trip to Maidenhead United, and look
 nobody’s pretending this is a crystal‑ball for August, but it did give us a few clues.

We saw flashes from players who look desperate to stake a claim, a couple who looked like they’re already halfway out the door, and one or two who reminded us that pre‑season fitness is very much a work in progress.

Will any of this resemble Wolves when the real football starts? Probably not — but that’s half the fun of July.

And then, of course, the big off‑pitch talking point: Tolu Arokodare’s standoff with the manager. A proper flashpoint, tempers up, lines drawn
 and training cancelled as a result.
