I Fired on the Great Khan Camp at Bitter Springs and Kept Getting Promoted | Fallout

In 2278, NCR First Recon took Coyote Tail Ridge above Red Pass and was told to fire until it was out of ammunition. Emmett Pruitt signed for eighty four rounds that morning. He fired all eighty four.

This is the account of the three years that followed, told in two braided threads. In one, a twenty two year old sharpshooter who once refused a bad shot outside Camp Golf learns to sit in a supply tent and produce the exact shape of sentence the Republic needs, runs a short ration line at the refugee camp built on the ground he helped make, and eventually teaches a nineteen year old spotter the one lesson nobody is assigned to teach. In the other, three years later, a master sergeant from Camp McCarran climbs the mountain above Bitter Springs to find the Great Khan survivor who has been killing refugees with a Republic rifle, one round at a time, at extreme range, keeping his count in casings laid out on stone.

He finds him at four hundred and twenty yards, prone, unaware, in perfect light. What he decides to do about that is the reason he made master sergeant at thirty two.
