TheBasilica of Santa Maria Novella is one of Florence's main places of worship,located near the train station. Founded in the 13th century by the Dominicans,the church is a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Its facade,designed by Leon Battista Alberti, is one of the most famous in Italy.
