Jim Hawkins and the remaining men finally reach the supposed location of the treasure, only to find it gone. In Chapter 33, “The Fall of a Chieftain,” panic erupts as the pirates turn on one another in anger and confusion. Leadership collapses, and control is lost. Jim stays cautious as the situation becomes chaotic. It’s a dramatic chapter about betrayal, disorder, and how greed can quickly destroy a group from within.
