Ziggy Marley is keeping the good vibes going! The nine-time Grammy Award winner joined us on Joann Butler In Studio With... as he celebrates the release of Brightside, his first full-length album in eight years, and his new children's book, True to Myself. Inspired by his hit song of the same name, the picture book delivers an empowering message of self-esteem, kindness, and community to a younger generation.
The reggae superstar is taking a fresh approach to music with his ninth solo studio album, experimenting with a different recording frequency and joining forces with Sheila E., Trombone Shorty, and Jake Shimabukuro.
Music and family have always gone hand in hand for Marley, who grew up surrounded by the legendary sounds of Bob Marley and The Wailers. In fact, he says he was visiting recording studios practically from birth!
But behind the music icon the world knew was a father Ziggy remembers as “tough on the outside, soft on the inside.”
Now a father of seven himself, Marley is carrying those early life lessons into his own music, parenting, and passion for spreading positivity.
