Relive the events of 7th December 1985 when Shamrock 156, an Aer Lingus Boeing 737-200, encountered a flock of black-headed gulls and suffered an uncontained engine failure on rotation off Runway 35 at Dublin Airport.

To mark the 40th anniversary of this event, Captain Mick Dalton, recalls the event, details the damage to the engine and the aircraft handling and takes us through his decision-making process.
