As we continue our Cooling System Revival, today we take a close look at one of the most important parts of keeping your engine at the proper operating temperature -the cooling fan system.
We'll explain what the cooling fans are, what it means when they're running, and what it means to you when they don't turn on when they're supposed to.
We'll also look at how the fan system is controlled by the thermal switch and the ECM (Electronic Control Module) -the brainiac in the car-and why the fans may come on somewhere around 212-225F, depending on the vehicle and system design.
And remember, proper coolant mixture matters too. The right antifreeze/water blend helps provide both the freeze protection and boil-over protection your cooling system needs.
