When does the artist become part of the chase?

This week on Holo Hustle, we dig into the growing influence of Pokémon TCG illustrators and asks whether the name printed at the bottom of the card is becoming just as important as the Pokémon pictured on it.

We look at five very different examples: Mega Dragonite ex #290, Yuka Morii’s clay Ditto/Bulbasaur, the altered artwork of Sabrina’s Gengar, Shinji Kanda’s iconic Giratina V, and Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat from the Van Gogh Museum collaboration.

Along the way, we talk artist-driven demand, recognizable styles, controversial artwork, condition scarcity, PSA populations, entry prices, and why some cards become unforgettable even when rarity alone can’t explain it.

Community Corner also brings a great mix this week: early 30th Celebration impressions, a sentimental sealed-product dilemma from Japan, a Charizard purchase that proves not every collecting decision needs to be optimized, and the listener question that inspired this entire episode.

Plus: the latest 30th Celebration news, upcoming promos and products, Delta Reign previews, and the usual reminder that Abe should never be allowed near a home-equity application.

Remember don’t just collect the card… collect the story.
