The Boston Celtics just pulled off a savvy move, signing veteran point guard Mike Conley to a one-year deal — and here’s why it’s a smart fit. After 19 seasons, including an All-Star nod and All-Defensive honors, Conley’s role is clear: he’s not here to carry the load, but to be a reliable backup ballhandler when Tatum or White need a breather. Last season with the Timberwolves, he averaged just 1.7 points in under 20 minutes — a far cry from his college days leading Ohio State to the national championship game. But Conley’s thrilled to join the Celtics, embracing the chance to play for a historic franchise and chase another ring with a team still firmly in playoff contention.
