Simon Edvinsson, Detroit’s restricted free agent defenseman, is showing up to camp on a PTO — no contract yet — but his dedication speaks volumes. He chose to be with the team, prioritizing alignment and focus over waiting in Sweden. With front office changes slowing negotiations, new interim GM Shawn Horcoff is now engaged, and Edvinsson says talks are moving forward. Coach Todd McLellan praised his commitment, noting it helps Edvinsson stay sharp and calm amid rising market pressure as teams rush to lock down young talent. McLellan insists it’s time for Detroit to act — swiftly and fairly — honoring Edvinsson’s effort and loyalty.
