The Buffalo Sabres just locked up a 34-year-old winger who lit up the score sheet with 24 goals last season — and he’s got serious upside. A first-round pick in 2022, he showed flashes in Sweden and the AHL before exploding in his NHL debut. But there’s a catch: injury history looms large, including a month-long absence last year. The six-and-a-half-million-dollar deal is smartly priced now, but comes with an escape clause for players under 26 — giving the Sabres flexibility if things don’t pan out. It’s a bold move that balances talent with risk — and fans will be watching closely to see if he can stay healthy and deliver over the next few seasons.
