Prime Minister Carney addressed the Canadian press today and detailed his plan should the 50% Trump tariffs be implemented come August 19th. These tariffs are set to target $20Billion worth of Canadian exports to the U.S. and are predicted to cause deep economic pain to the Provinces of British Colombia, Ontario & Quebec.
Meanwhile July inflation numbers came out and rose sharply past the Bank of Canada's objective. Caused by increase in fuel prices, Canadians can expect further fuel cost increase with the Federal Fuel Excise Tax coming back in force after labour day. Food price inflation is also above baseline inflation for a 18th consecutive month.
And former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is embroiled in a new controversy as a report details how his government compiled a blacklist of individuals partaking in the Ottawa protest, and shared it with 2000 companies in order to punish the protesters.
