This 10-minute somatic meditation for overwhelm is designed to help calm your nervous system, ease emotional overload, and reconnect with a greater sense of safety through grounding, orienting, mindful breathing, gentle movement, and supportive self-touch.
Through orienting practices, resourcing, grounding, slow exhales, mindful movement, and compassionate self-contact, this meditation supports the nervous system in moving out of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm and into a state of calm, steadiness, and embodied presence.
Somatic meditation works by bringing gentle awareness back to the body. When we slow down, notice where we are supported, and reconnect with simple sensations, the nervous system begins to recognize cues of safety. Breathing naturally becomes steadier, muscles soften, and the body can gradually shift away from survival mode and toward regulation and ease.
This practice is a gentle invitation to pause when life feels like too much. There is nothing to fix and nothing to accomplish. You are invited to take one breath at a time, receive the support beneath you, and remember that even the smallest moments of slowing down can create meaningful change.
✨ In this somatic meditation you will experience:
• Orienting practices to reconnect with the present moment
• Resourcing to help your body feel more supported
• Grounding through contact with the floor or chair
• Slow, extended exhales to calm the nervous system
• Gentle mindful movement to release stress and overwhelm
• Supportive self-touch to cultivate safety and reassurance
• Quiet integration to notice subtle shifts in your body
