The strategy could shorten the loan term by roughly six years and save around $100,000 in interest. But paying extra toward a mortgage may not be the best priority for someone carrying high-interest debt, lacking an emergency fund, or holding a very low mortgage rate. Tim explains the biweekly payment method, a simpler monthly alternative, and why borrowers should confirm that extra money is applied directly to principal.
Finally, the episode looks at the growing connection between data centers and local housing markets. Counties with many data centers have experienced higher home values and stronger appreciation, but that does not prove the facilities caused that growth. Tim explores the potential effects on permanent employment, electricity costs, water use, infrastructure, and the future resale appeal of nearby homes.
