A report of an attempted kidnapping draws private detective Sam Spade to San Francisco businessman Gordon Martini. When Martini is shot in front of him, Spade follows a sparse trail of clues.

The Adventures of Sam Spade brought Dashiell Hammett’s hard-boiled detective to radio. Howard Duff stars as Spade, with Lurene Tuttle as Effie Perrine. William Conrad and Jack Webb appear in this August 1, 1948 broadcast.
