Big Bend National Park and the local communities surrounding it are being threatened by a destructive border patrol endeavor. The Department of Homeland Security released “Smart Wall” plans for this area of Texas (including Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park) which include PHYSICAL construction of border walls in both the Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park.
"This will not only have extreme environmental impacts, it will also remove access to miles upon miles of public land and close some of the most beloved sections of both parks (including the Hot Springs in Big Bend National Park and Hoodoos & Balanced Rock trail in Big Bend Ranch State Park) and also includes physical walls along sections of the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic river," says local resident Anna Claire Beasley.
Anna Claire Beasley is an adventure and wedding photographer originally from Castroville, Texas. She now lives and works in Far West Texas, specifically calling the desert town of Terlingua near Big Bend National Park her home. And, she's this week's guest on Rangers of the Lost Park!
