The Distant Spire Returns.
It has been a while between posts and plenty has happened in the space between. The reasons are many and varied, but the events that put The Distant Spire on hold were only a short detour. I’m happy to be returning with new music, and sharing some of the meaningful events that have occurred while I was away.
About This Month’s Music
This track titled Contemplatio is what I would describe as ‘atmospheric acoustic’. It will be on my next album release in this form, possibly with some changes.
There is minimal instrumentation (solo acoustic steel string guitar) and an ethereal shimmer in the background. The guitar was recorded using an alternative tuning (F, A, C, G, C, E) that has a beautiful tranquil sound. I have also added a pitch effect so that every string is an octave lower and mixed with the normal pitch to provide some low end and extra harmonic tones.
The shimmer effect was recorded using electric guitar and a volume pedal for the swell effect. The shimmer alternates from left to right and provides a sense of width and expanse. I hope you enjoy the music and can reflect and meditate as you listen.
(I recommend headphones or full range speakers both for listening quality and to provide some isolation from the noise and business so you can more easily enter into a reflective time with the Lord).
