FrightFest co-director Greg Day sits down for Desert Island Movies as FrightFest 2026 runs this weekend in London, Thursday 27 to Monday 31 August at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square and the ODEON Luxe West End.
Greg takes the festival from its beginnings to now: the directors FrightFest discovered, and the films that built its reputation. He talks through this year's 27th edition, including Spider Island, Nervous and Colony, and names Oddities as his pick of the festival, with Adrienne Barbeau among the cast.
Then he names the three films he would take to the island: Frogs (1972), Don't Look Now (1973), and Martyrs (2008).
Greg Day is co-director of FrightFest and a film and television publicist who has worked with Dario Argento, George Romero, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Columbia Pictures. He is a former head of entertainment publicity at Channel 4.
Frogs (1972) is the AIP eco-horror with Ray Milland, Sam Elliott and Joan Van Ark. Don't Look Now (1973) is Nicolas Roeg's Venice film with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. Martyrs (2008) is Pascal Laugier's New French Extremity landmark with Morjana Alaoui and Mylene Jampanoi.
Asked who he would like to see on Desert Island Movies next, Greg names Derren Brown and Guillermo del Toro.
