Olympian Ruben Sança has spent nearly three decades competing at a high level, all while balancing a full-time career, family, and demanding training.
Originally from Cape Verde, Ruben shares his journey from a childhood marked by asthma to representing his country at the Olympics.
We discuss how he manages high-mileage training alongside his role as an executive director, the importance of patience and consistency, adapting as he approaches 40, and why he believes his best running may still be ahead.
We also look ahead to the New York City Marathon, his ambitions for another Olympics, and the work he's doing to support the next generation of runners in Cape Verde.
Every runner has a story.
