How does a self-taught sewer from Springfield, Massachusetts meet Spike Lee and go on to make history as the first Black woman to win a costume design Oscar? Ruth E. Carter joins "My Hollywood Story" for an expansive look inside her legendary career and most impactful collaborations. Listen in as Ruth shares how her stint at an HBCU shaped her artistic sense of self and the path that led her to designing costumes for such groundbreaking films as Do The Right Thing, What's Love Got to Do With It?, Amistad, BAPS and more. She also reveals how Afrofuturism inspired her two-time-Oscar-winning collaborations with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, whose latest film with Carter - Warner Brothers’ Sinners - has earned $367 million at the global box office.
